Fallon, NV | July 6, 2018 - Chris & Lorie Juhl (mom & stepdad to Team Dirt Dog racer Jeff Tuttle) were both burned in an engine fire Wednesday night at Rattlesnake Raceway in Nevada. Lorie's injuries were limited to 1st degree burns on her arms and Jeff was uninjured, but Chris was flown 200 miles by Life Flight to the UC Davis hospital where he is currently in the Burn Unit ICU. Chris is stable but faces a LONG recovery and massive medical bills. Please pray and donate if you can.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
So that others may be prepared, Chris and Jeff are adamant that we clearly explain the simple mistake that almost took Chris's life. Wednesday night after the Hobby Stock feature at Rattlesnake Raceway, Team Dirt Dog racer Jeff Tuttle pulled into his pit with the engine running a little hot, so Chris & Lorie went into action with Chris pouring what he thought was water over the radiator to cool it.

For safety purposes, Tuttle Motorsports always uses color coded jugs with fuel in white jugs and water in blue. The problem was that their friends in the neighboring pit stall use identical blue jugs for their fuel. At some point during the feature, the jugs got moved around enough so that Chris accidentally grabbed a blue fuel jug (thinking it was water) and poured it over the hot engine. Chris is mad at himself for the mistake but is even more pissed that his new, baby granddaughter isn't allowed to visit him in the ICU. Chris and Jeff hope this incident will help other racers learn to be more vigilant.

Our prayers are with the Tuttle and Juhl families. Mama Lorie was released and will see a burn specialist today, but Chris may be hospitalized for over a month. Please donate if you can to help with the mounting medical bills. Thank you!
